ETSI EN 303 861 focuses on the specification of protocols and data elements for On-Board Weighing (OBW) systems within the framework of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). The work aimed to standardise communication and data exchange for OBW equipment, contributing to improved road transport systems and increased safety.

The stopping of the work item is requested, because of a lack of market interest in the technology specified in EN 303 861. The stopping of this work item means that further development or updates to the standard will not continue under the current framework.
