New standardisation work on measuring networked standby power consumption

ETSI EN 303 423 V0.0.0 focuses on measuring the power consumption of electrical and electronic household and office equipment in networked standby mode. The standard specifically addresses interconnecting equipment used to connect different devices within a network.

The aim is to provide a clear and consistent method for measuring energy consumption when equipment remains connected to a network but is not actively being used. This can help improve comparability between products and provide manufacturers with clearer guidance on energy efficiency.

The standard is a working draft under development, and no link to the document is available yet.

All feedback and comments are welcome by 22 October 2026.
