ETSI has now released ETSI EN 304 113 V1.0.0, a new technical standard for maritime Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRBs) intended for non-SOLAS vessels.

The standard defines technical characteristics and measurement methods to ensure greater reliability in emergency signaling. The updated requirements are expected to enhance tracking accuracy and reduce response times for rescue services, improving safety at sea for recreational craft and smaller commercial vessels.
