New standard for EMC in Ground-Based Air Navigation equipment

ETSIs new standard EN 301 489-55 V1.0.0 (2025-07)establishes specific requirements for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in ground-based equipment used for air navigation. It applies to equipment operating within the frequency range of 960 MHz to 1 215 MHz – a spectrum used by various communication and navigation systems in air traffic.

By clearly defining EMC requirements, the standard helps ensure interference-free operation, high reliability, and effective interoperability between different types of radio equipment and services, which is essential for a robust and safe air navigation system.
