On 19 May 2025, ITS hosted a full-day event on the European standardisation system – part of an EU- and EFTA-funded project. The aim was to provide stakeholders with a better understanding of how they can engage in standardisation efforts within the fields of IT and telecommunications.

The day began with ITS Chair of the Board, Peggy Haase (PTS), presenting the legal framework for European standardisation, including Regulation (EU) 1025/2012 and its 2022 update. This was followed by ITS CEO Bettina Funk, who illustrated how these principles are applied in practice – both within ETSI and ITS – and what this means for Swedish and European stakeholders.

After the presentations, participants had the opportunity to discuss potential ways for ITS to improve its communication. Feedback from the day was very positive: many expressed that they had gained a new understanding of the often complex processes behind European standardisation.

ITS is planning additional events in autumn 2025 and spring 2026.
