ETSI recently initiated an adoption vote for a new work item for a standard which outlines key cybersecurity requirements for hypervisors and container runtime systems.

This work item intends to produce an EN as candidate for harmonisation, under the standardisation request in support of the implementation of the CRA (M/606).

The technologies that will be affected by the EN are used to run operating systems and applications in virtual environments, such as in cloud services. The goal is to ensure these systems are designed with strong protection against attacks and vulnerabilities. The standard will also support the objectives of the EU’s Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), which sets security requirements for software and digital products.
