Proposals for new standards for short-range devices!

There are proposals for three new harmonised standards for Short Range Devices (SRDs) operating in the 40 GHz to 260 GHz frequency range.

These standards (EN 305 550-7, EN 305 550-8 and EN 305 550-9) are designed to facilitate access to radio spectrum for SRDs, ensuring efficient and compliant use of these high-frequency bands. The standards aim to support the deployment of new technologies and innovations while maintaining proper spectrum management. These standards are of special interest to SMEs.

Information on the standards (no documents available):

EN 305 550-7:
This EN will cover SRD radiodetermination devices in vehicles to be used in the 122.25-130 GHz and 134-148.5 GHz frequency range for in-cabin radar applications. Applications could be presence detection, imaging applications or health monitoring. This includes a detailed description of the wanted performance requirement, RX-requirements and fixed limits for all requirements (TX/RX) based on a clear test procedure. Equipment covered by the present document operates in accordance with ECC/DEC/(22)03 and the expected corresponding EC Decision.

EN 305 550-8:
This EN will cover SRD radiodetermination devices on vehicles to be used in the 122.25-130 GHz and 134-148.5 GHz frequency range for exterior radar applications. This includes a detailed description of the wanted performance requirement, RX-requirements and fixed limits for all requirements (TX/RX) based on a clear test procedure. Equipment covered by the present document operates in accordance with ECC/DEC/(22)03 and the expected corresponding EC Decision.

EN 305 550-9:
This EN will cover SRD radiodetermination devices for industrial applications to be used in the 57 GHz to 64 GHz frequency range for devices that expose access to digital range profile or IF data and for applications according to RDI & RDI-S device classes in ECC Report 334. This includes a detailed description of the wanted technical performance requirement, RX-requirements and fixed limits for all requirements (TX/RX) based on a clear test procedure. System operation limits are in accordance with ERC Recommendation 70-03.
