CRA Working Group Seeks Chair!

In December, the EU adopted a new regulation called the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). This regulation defines new cybersecurity requirements for products with digital components. The Comittee of Standards has already approved a draft standardisation request in support of the regulation. Therefore, ETSI, CEN, and CENELEC anticipate receiving an official request for standards from the commission soon.

In response, the ETSI Board and the OCG have assigned the Technical Committee on Cybersecurity (TC CYBER) the task of leading the standards development in response to the standardisation request. The plan is for TC CYBER to coordinate this work internally alongside ETSI, CEN, and CENELEC. As part of this process, TC CYBER has established a dedicated working group called EUSR, with meetings currently organised by representatives from TC CYBER.

The group is now looking for candidates interested in taking on the role of Chair and Vice-Chair for the CYBER-EUSR working group. Applications opened on January 27 and will close on February 24, 2025.

The working group will be responsible for developing several harmonised vertical standards in collaboration with other relevant technical groups from ETSI, CEN, and CENELEC. The group’s primary focus areas will be:

• Standards for IoT security
• Standards for the security of telecommunications products
• Generic security standards browsers, operating system, passwords, etc.

Together with ETSI’s leadership team, we hope that as many people as possible will consider applying for the positions of Chair and Vice-Chair for CYBER-EUSR.

You can find more details about the positions and how to apply here.

We look forward to your application!
