2025, like previous years, has shown that standardisation never stands still. Throughout the year, many drafts of ETSI standards have been submitted for voting, and ITS has collected and consolidated Swedish comments. In some cases, we voted no. This is never easy, but sometimes necessary. A no vote in the ENAP and SRdAP processes is not about slowing down the work, but about ensuring quality before a standard is published.
We also organised two open events on how the European standardisation system works, and why the process sometimes requires the courage to say no. The strong interest – from both experienced and new stakeholders, including Annex III organisations, demonstrates that engagement with, and understanding of, the system continues to grow. Several participants noted that they learned something new, even after many years in the world of standardisation.
2026 brings new demands, not least through the forthcoming review of the Standardisation Regulation (EU) No 1025/2012. Our task remains the same as always: to bring together the Swedish voice and contribute to stable, well-founded standards for the European market.
Before we turn our attention to this work, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the experts who dedicate their time to reading, commenting on, and improving the proposals that pass through the standardisation process. It is your work that makes the system function. This effort may not always be visible in the final standards, but it is clearly reflected in the quality you create together.
ITS will keep the office closed from 22nd of December to 9th of January. We wish you a peaceful and enjoyable holiday season.
