ETSI has recently updated several parts of the EN 319 412-5 V2.5.0 series, which covers electronic signatures and trust infrastructures (ESI). The standard series’ different parts define certificate profiles for different use cases:
- Part 1 provides an overview and common data structures.
- Part 2 describes certificate profiles for certificates issued to natural persons.
- Part 4 focuses on certificate profiles for website certificates.
- Part 5 covers Qualified Certificates (QCStatements).
The purpose of these updated parts of the standard series is to ensure that electronic signatures and certificate profiles are compatible and meet the latest security and trust requirements in digital infrastructures. The draft of the standard series and its updated parts have now been sent out for approval.
