New European standard for short-range devices in data networks!

ETSI has recently released a draft new standard (ETSI EN 303 659 V1.0.0 (2024-11)) that focuses on short-range devices (SRD) in data networks. The standard applies to all radio equipment within the frequency ranges 865 MHz–868 MHz and 915 MHz–919,4 MHz.

The purpose of the standard is to harmonise access to the radio spectrum to ensure compatibility and efficiency in those communication technologies that use these frequencies. In the long term, it will both make interoperability easier and decrease the risk of disturbances in wireless networks.

The standard is an important step in supporting innovation and growth within IoT and wireless communication solutions in Europe.
